Travel cost assistance for low-income and incapacitated individuals.
This program provides financial aid to assist with travel and accommodation costs for families of children under the age of 19 years, who live within the prescribed area, who must travel to receive emergency or necessary medical treatment due to serious illness or injury. The prescribed area is the west side of School District #8 (Kootenay Lake), generally described as the area north/south from Meadow Creek (including Argenta) to Nelway, and west/east from Balfour to Slocan (via Playmor Junction at South Slocan), and all points in between.

Eligibility for funding:

1) Support is given to families of children who have been incapacitated due to illness or an accident before their 19th birthday.

2) Monetary aid is given for travel and accommodation for medical treatment and covers that which is not supplied by other groups or agencies.

3) The families being supported must live within the area; North to South - Meadow Creek/Argenta, Hwy 31 to Nelway; East to West - Balfour to Playmor junction, South Slocan, and everywhere in between. Also, children living outside these exact boundaries that are registered with a School District #8 school may be considered.

4) An application must be completed and submitted to the foundation by mail. Emergency requests can be done by fax, email or phone.
