Carlile Youth Concurrent Disorders Centre - HOpe Centre

Provides services to youth (13-18) with significant mental health and substance use challenges requiring inpatient care.
The Carlile Youth Concurrent Disorders Centre supports youth 13 – 18 years of age who are experiencing combined mental health and problematic substance use concerns.

The Centre provides:
  • A Multidisciplinary treatment team consisting of psychiatrists, a psychologist, occupational therapist, nurses, youth care counsellors, social workers, concurrent disorders therapist and teacher
  • Diagnostic clarification and medication management
  • Individualized treatment plans incorporating the youth’s needs and goals
  • Medically managed detox
  • A safe and welcoming environment and culturally competent care
  • Ways to build coping skills
  • Opportunities to create positive connections and skills through a range of therapeutic approaches
  • Connection with support systems (families, friends, community etc.)
  • Discharge planning to provide sustainable support for youth


  • This service is for clients:
  • Age 13- 18 years
  • Resident of Vancouver Coastal Health region
  • Severe Mental Health Symptoms
  • Current severe problematic substance use
  • Severe functional impairment in 2 or more of the following: school/work, social relationships, housing, or self-care.
  • Requires a comprehensive assessment and treatment initiation in a secure setting
  • Community resources exhausted and/or unable to manage in the community
  • Identified community case manager as per local determination

    Referral Instructions: Access to the Carlie Youth Concurrent Disorders Centre is by referral only and through your local Mental Health and/or Substance Use team. Once the referral form is complete, please fax to Central Access and Discharge (CAD) at 1-888-857-0371.
