An urgent mental health and substance use service for youth.
YURT provides urgent and short-term services to youth ages 12-19 living in North or West Vancouver who are experiencing thoughts, feelings or behavior and/or substance use which is seriously interfering with their daily functioning. YURT is for youth experiencing the following:
Acute disturbance in mood, thinking or behavior which might manifest with suicidal ideation, mood problems or psychotic symptoms
Moderate to severe primary substance use with or without mental illness
Functional challenges associated with housing, income and health
Difficulties accessing health and social services
Referral Criteria:
Youth aged 12 to 19
Rapid onset of extreme mental health and/or substance use symptoms resulting in the youth being unable to participate in their typical daily activities or relationships
Mental health crisis may include high risk self-harming behaviors, active suicidal thoughts or attempts, intense anxiety or depression, distorted thinking, psychotic symptoms, or high risk of significantly harming others
Youth would benefit from crisis stabilization support and intervention
Experiencing difficulties accessing health and social services

YURT is provided by VCH in partnership with Foundry (North Shore).
