The Red Fish Healing Centre for Mental Health and Addiction, which replaces the Burnaby Centre for Mental Health and Addiction, is for people who live with complex and severe concurrent disorders. For admission, clients must have both a complex mental illness and substance use disorder. The program is designed for people who have experienced several relapses, and whose treatment needs are beyond what their local community health resources or health authority can meet. They offer treatment for both voluntary and involuntary (certified under B.C.'s Mental Health Act) clients. They accept clients who are on probation, as well as clients who are using methadone or Suboxone.
Referrals: Eligible individuals are those who are 19+, a BC resident, have the ability to be independent in their activities of daily living, and are medically and psychiatrically stable. If you would like a client or patient to receive treatment at the Red Fish Healing Centre for Mental Health and Addiction, fill out the referral package and follow the steps listed below:
- 1. Download the referral package.
- 2. Follow the instructions and complete all the forms in the package. This includes any appropriate supplementary forms.
- 3. Submit the package to your local health authority liaison. Contact information is available in the referral package.
