Provides mobile diabetes prevention and intervention education, checkups and testing in communities all across Northern British Columbia.
The Mobile Diabetes clinic supports patients in understanding and managing various aspects of their diabetes. The clinic is delivered across Northern BC by nurses with specialized training and expertise in diabetes care, offering one-on-one appointments with patients.
Each appointment includes a foot and eye assessment, as well as the collection of blood and urine samples to evaluate the health of organs commonly affected by diabetes. Patients receive a copy of their results following the appointment, and a report is sent to their primary care provider. These services have been available to individuals across Northern BC for many years.
The team consists of a Diabetes Nurse Educator, a Vision Technician, and a Manager, who work in collaboration with diabetes experts throughout the province.
