Support to Family Care Network (STFC) - Support for Foster Parents

Provided by Interior Community Services

Provides education, training and support to Caregivers throughout the communities served.
The Support to Family Care Network:
  • Provides mandatory training for foster parents, Out of Care/Kinship caregivers and contracted agency caregivers
  • Establishes caregiver community groups in each area for peer support and mentoring opportunities
  • Establishes Foster Parent community groups to allow Foster Parents to connect and support one another
  • Helps to strengthen retention of caregivers by offering relevant training to the communities served such as Safe Babies, Business Side of Fostering, and Grief and Loss
  • Provides support during a protocol investigation, quality of care review or resolution of issues
  • Provides information to prospective families who are considering fostering now or in the future
  • Where possible, helps to create locals for the Federation of BC Youth In Care Networks for youth in or from government care

Offered in Cariboo, East Kootenay, Revelstoke, Thompson, Golden and West Kootenay.

Who Is Eligible?:
  • All foster parents, out of care/kinship caregivers and contracted agency caregivers who care for babies, children and youth including those with support needs are eligible
  • Caregivers for MCFD, Indigenous Child and Family Service Agencies (ICFSA) or First Nations bands within our service area are eligible.
