Legal Supports for Women

Provided by YWCA BC

Provides free legal workshops on various family law/child protection issues.
YWCA BC’s staff lawyers host free workshops for the public on a broad range of family law and child protection legal issues. They also provide free legal services to those with a connection to YWCA BC – either through our housing or community programs. The team assists in resolving family law and child policing/protection matters. These services support residents/participants who have experienced violence from an intimate partner and are facing ongoing safety concerns; or those whose children have been or are about to be apprehended by the Ministry of Children and Family Development or VACFSS.

Legal Workshops: The YWCA's staff lawyers host free workshops for the public on a broad range of family law and child protection legal issues, advocate for a more equitable, humane and compassionate legal system and support YWCA staff to navigate courts and institutions. All workshops are free to attend and are offered online via Zoom. They are typically held on the third Wednesday of each month from 11:00am - noon. Registration required.
