- Stepping Stones Emergency Shelter: Provides 24/7 crisis housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Offers a safe, respectful, and supportive space where people can stabilize and begin moving toward longer-term housing. Guests may stay for up to 30 days while connecting with housing supports, health care, and community services.
- Nelson Committee on Homelessness: Brings community groups together to speak in a single voice to address the issue of homelessness in the West Kootenays.
- Custom Fit Inclusion Employment Services: Provides employment, community based and outreach support for adults with diverse abilities. Office hours are by appointment only Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm. To schedule an appointment, call 250-352-6011 ext 5270.
- The Advocacy Centre: Offers help in navigating government benefits, landlord-tenant issues, family law, legal aid, dealing with sexual and relationship violence, and more.
- Kootenay Seniors Transportation: Services include providing seniors with information about transportation options, assisting with trip planning (including transit schedules and problem-solving), and offering support to register for programs and subsidies. For more information on this program, call the Transportation Coordinator at 778-463-5247.
- Community Living Support:Nelson CARES Society provides individual support for adults in three group homes in Nelson, assisting those with developmental disabilities and complex health needs with daily living (meals, mobility, personal care), life skills, community engagement, and personalized planning to help them live fully and participate actively in their communities.
- Seniors Home Support: Aims to support seniors to stay at home for as long as possible, by providing light housekeeping and laundry services. Home Support workers are screened for criminal record check. The fees for seniors are calculated on a sliding scale, according to income.
