QuitNow - Smoking Cessation Programs

Provided by BC Lung Foundation

A free program British Columbians looking to quit or reduce tobacco and e-cigarette use.
QuitNow is a free program for British Columbians delivered by the BC Lung Foundation on behalf of the Government of British Columbia. QuitNow aims to help you quit or reduce your nicotine use and understand what happens when you make this change. The program offers personalized quit-smoking plans; one-on-one coaching and group support by phone, chat, email, and video conferencing; and an online discussion forum.

Who should call the phone service? Anyone looking for help to quit or to help others quit can call. Even healthcare providers looking for answers to specific smoking-related questions can call. The following are just some of the reasons someone might want to call a Quit Coach:
  • You are a smoker trying to quit within the next month.
  • You've already quit smoking but could use some extra support.
  • You are feeling strong cravings and worried you are on the verge of relapse.
  • You would like to help a friend or family member quit smoking.
  • You are a healthcare professional who wants to help your patients/clients.

QuitNow service options include:
Quit by Phone: There are two ways to use the phone service. You can call for a one-off conversation or you can schedule a series of calls, where a Quit Coach will walk you through the full process of quitting smoking.

Quit with Live Chat: Get real-time, personalized advice and guidance from a friendly and professional Quit Coach. Click to go to the chat webpage.

Quit with Text Messaging: For text messaging, text QUITNOW to 654321.
