East Shore Hospice Society - Support Services
Caregiver Support, End of Life Care / Palliative Care, and Mental Health - Adult
Provided by Nelson and District Hospice Society (NDHS)
Trained Hospice volunteers work as part of a caregiving team that could include community home nursing, doctors, hospital and facility staff, social workers and spiritual leaders. The volunteers provide confidential support that can include any of the following:
- Phone calls and visits with clients and families to give emotional support
- Help with practical day-to-day needs like appointments and outings
- Respite time to give at-home caregivers a break
- Advance Care Planning
- Bereavement/grief support after the death of a loved one
