Public Health Unit - Campbell River

Offers a range of services to promote health and wellness in the community.
Provides health promotion, disease prevention, intervention and support services to those living in Campbell River from Oyster River to Sayward, Quadra, Cortes and Read Island.

The following services are offered:
  • Right from the Start
  • Prenatal Education
  • Breastfeeding classes and support
  • Baby Bed Program
  • BC Early Hearing Program
  • Dental health programs
  • Youth Clinics
  • Public Health Nursing Support Services for women, children, youth and families
  • Immunizations for all ages, including school-based immunization clinics and outreach in the community
  • Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) is a free home visitation program for women under 25 years of age having their first baby.
  • Olive Branch is a free, one-on-one Public Health Nursing support for women experiencing prenatal and postpartum depression, anxiety, and adjustment challenges in the community.
  • Free Kindergarten Hearing and Vision Screening is offered to all kindergarten children in the school district, although parents may request vision screening for children aged three years as well.
  • Nursing Support Services are provided to children requiring specialized health care such as tracheostomy care, palliative care, gastrostomy feedings, etc., based on eligibility criteria. This includes assessments, development and implementation of plans, training and monitoring, advocacy, and liaison and consultation with the family, health professionals, school personnel and other service providers.
